University of Seychelles American Institute of Medicine

Undergraduate Medical Degree

The medical degree curriculum is designed to work closely together with highly competent students and develop their intellectual and technical knowledge in medicine one step at a time. Beyond knowledge and skill in medicine, the curriculum also coaches the students how to read the medical literature, how to conduct medical research and publish or market their expertise. It teaches the students the importance of self-motivated learning as a lifelong exercise. The curriculum also offers an international clinical/clerkship rotation program. Examination systems ensure that doctors graduating from USAIM will have a distinct advantage in their very competitive career development path.

The Undergraduate Medical Degree program leading to M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) degree is designed according to the American medical curriculum. It is equivalent to the traditional M.B.B.S medical degree program. The only difference is that the M.D. program is more flexible. It is divided into two parts; Pre-clinical and Clinical. The pre-clinical portion of the program is approximately 2 years long. The clinical portion of the program can be completed in any of the university affiliated hospitals around the world

The MBBS is a United Kingdom-based medical degree that has been adopted by many countries. This degree is equivalent to an M.D. undergraduate degree, which is based on American medical curriculum. An MBBS degree typically requires four and a half years of study. One additional year of internship is required to complete the degree. USAIM curriculum is based on American medical curriculum; therefore, USAIM offers an M.D. Undergraduate degree.

The Pre-clinical course consists of five, 16 week long semester.
